Nic has been based at the School of Education since 2005, having previously taught in the School of English, Queen’s University Belfast, where he completed his doctorate in 2003.
Research and Projects Interests
Nic’s main research interests lie in the study of postcolonial literature (with particular emphasis on Australian writing) and postmodern theory, and he has delivered papers at a number of national and international conferences. He is currently working on a book-length study of representations of pedagogy in science fiction, and alongside his primary scholarly output he has written and published on a diverse range of topics, including the use of ICT in the humanities and the embedding of transferable skills within English degrees.
Teaching Interests
Nic contributes to a range of modules on the ELLIE undergraduate programme, including Contemporary Cinema and Postmodernism, Postcolonial Literature and Movements in British Poetry. He also undertakes postgraduate supervision in the areas of postcolonial theory and postmodernism, and welcomes applications from potential research students in any of the above areas.
