Research Interests

Over the last few years I have been involved in a range of research projects within CRMDE, all of which focus specifically on the continuing professional development of dentists. A key focus of current research is the evaluation of Personal Development Plans for general dental practitioners. Are they effective in supporting dentists to plan their CPD in relation to their learning needs? This work builds on a national study, funded by the Department of Health which described the participation of GDPs in CPD and its impact on their practice.

I have previously undertaken research and clinical audit projects for the NHS and I have recently completed a PhD with the School of Education. My PhD was based on research I conducted on the effectiveness of sexual health promotion interventions for young people.
