Research Interests

Steve is a practising General Practitioner at Bellevue Medical Centre in inner city Birmingham and is also Regional Postgraduate Dean for the West Midlands Deanery. Steve is Chair of Education Network of the Royal College of General Practitioners, Honorary Professor of Medical Education at the University of Warwick, and Honorary Professor in the School of Education, University of Birmingham.

Steve has published widely and has produced a number of books, and multi media teaching materials including the critically acclaimed video training packages, "Watching you Watching me", "Those things you say" and "Sex, Lives and Videotape". His research interests include the teaching and assessment of communication skills, the evaluation of learning and teaching interventions, primary care performance indicators and the cost benefit analysis of continuing professional development.

Steve is committed to the evaluation of education particularly in General Practice and Primary Care and sees the establishment of Best Evidence Medical Education as the way forward.
