For more than half a century, the School has been undertaking innovative, important research in education.
We act as consultants to schools, local education authorities, charities, businesses and Government departments within the UK and are involved in research and consultancy in many countries.

There are currently more than 180 students (full-time and part-time) registered for research degrees within the School. As far as our research training environment is concerned we have won the top-ranking ESRC 1+3 recognition for the academic years 2006 and 2007, with four quota studentships funded by the ESRC over this period.

UNESCO associated School
The School of Education is an Associated School of UNESCO, and mounts projects and seminars to promote UNESCO ideals of peace, democracy, rights and sustainable development. A UNESCO research scholarship is available (see Research Centres: CIER)
