School-Specific Codes of Professional Conduct and Fitness to Practise

All students on programmes leading to a professional qualification are required to sign the Code of Professional Conduct and Fitness to Practise statement at the start of the programme. The code is cross-referenced to the relevant professional legislation and guidance and covers areas such as: personal behaviour, behaviour towards others, appearance, learning, barriers to learning or professional practice, duty of care, duty to report and confidentiality.

In any case where a student breaches this code a College Fitness to Practise panel will be convened. The panel will make a recommendation about the students professional suitability to continue on the programme. It has the authority to require a student to withdraw from the programme although any such recommendation may be referred to the University Fitness to Practise panel.

Anticipated Membership of College panel:

  • Chair of Panel
  • Member of programme academic staff
  • Honorary member of staff
  • Student representative
