In any case where a student breaches this code a College Fitness to Practise panel will be convened. The panel will make a recommendation about the student’s professional suitability to continue on the programme. It has the authority to require a student to withdraw from the programme although any such recommendation may be referred to the University Fitness to Practise panel.

The following programmes within the School of Education are subject to Fitness to Practise:

• ITE (PGCE) -  General Teaching Council for England (GTCE) Code of Practice ; and Training and Development Agency for Schools (TDA) Professional Standards for Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
• Educational Psychology – Professional Practice Guidelines laid down by the Division of Educational and Child Psychology (DECP) of the British Psychological Society, and the Code of Professional Practice of the Association of Educational Psychologists (AEP).
• CPY – Joint Negotiation Committee [J.N.C.] for England and professional body  - Code or guidance and competencies as laid down by the Endorsing Body, namely the National Youth Agency for England through the National Occupational Standards (PAULO 2000).
