Programme overview

The School of Education provides programmes of study for professionals working with children and young people experiencing social, emotional and behavioural difficulties (SEBD) which are accredited at undergraduate and postgraduate levels including an MEd (SEBD).

The programmes are available via distance education which includes residential weekends.  The programmes cover:

• Perspectives on SEBD
• Positive Strategies to meet the needs of SEBD
• Provision; mainstream, special, alternative and inclusive
• Pedagogy and curriculum
• Parents, carers and multiagency interventions
• Policy, Legislation and Initiatives

The programmes aim to develop professional practice in educational settings.  If you work with children and young people who exhibit challenging behaviour, disaffection and dis-engagement with schooling, behaviour disorders, or behaviour, emotional and social difficulties, then these programmes will have applicability for you.

The programmes are available over one, tow or three years depending on the level of award being pursued.

Programme entry requirements

The entry requirements are those normally required by the University for the level of award being sought. For an overview of the entry requirements, please refer to the "Admission requirements" page.

Students applying to study via distance education from overseas will be required to prove that they have access to email and/or fax and show that they have an appropriate range of information sources available to them.

The fees shown are for students commencing study in 2009-2010.  Please note MEd fees will be charged over 3 years and the fees are likely to increase due to inflation.  Students should confirm their fees upon being offered a place.
