This programme encourages inquiry into the relationship between education and intercultural communication.  It is relevant to educators at all levels who wish to develop their own skills and understanding in this area, and to teach others.

Programme Aims

This programme will enable you to:

  • Have a critical understanding of key debates surrounding education as an international issue
  • Make analytical comparisons between educational issues in different contexts, including your own
  • Understand issues in intercultural communication as they relate to education
  • Develop skills for working in intercultural learning contexts.

Global social justice is a theme of all strands of this programme.

Programme Content

In order to gain a qualification in International Studies in Education (Intercultural Communication), students take the following compulsory modules:

  • Education as an International Issue
  • Language, Discourse and Society
  • Personal and Professional Skills in Education Management

The dissertation topic must be relevant to intercultural communication and education.
