Programme Aims

This programme will enable you to:

• Have a critical understanding of key debates surrounding education as an international issue
• Make analytical comparisons between educational issues in different contexts, including your own
• Explore definitions and issues in education for citizenship
• Reflect on the nature and relevance of education for citizenship in your own and other countries.

Global social justice is a theme of all strands of this programme.

Programme Content

In order to gain a qualification in International Studies in Education (Citizenship), students take the following compulsory modules:

• Education as an International Issue
• Human Rights, Citizenship and the Environment

They should also choose at least one further module from the International Studies programme list.  The dissertation topic must be relevant to education for citizenship.

Fees*

1st Year

Fees for full-time programmes of study for students commencing in 2008-09. Fees for subsequent years of study are likely to increase. An additional cost may be incurred for transferring between levels of study. These are indicative fees, to be confirmed. Students should confirm their fees upon being offered a place.

2nd Year

Fees for 2nd year students commencing in 2008-09. An additional cost may be incurred for transferring between levels of study. These are indicative fees, to be confirmed. Students should confirm their fees upon re-registering for their 2nd year.
