This programme is for all health professionals involved in the education and training of undergraduates and postgraduates. Teaching on each of the three modules is for five days organised in blocks of two days plus one day.

Programme aims
Through the course you will learn to:
- Develop knowledge, skills and understanding in relation to teaching and learning, assessment and curriculum design in the education of health professionals.
- Develop an awareness of the context in which teaching and learning occurs in health care settings.
- Develop skills of critical appraisal in relation to the design of educational programmes for health professionals.
- Develop the abilities to devise and lead high quality educational programmes in health care settings.
You will gain:
- Awareness of how to structure appropriate teaching and learning objectives, organise and manage teaching and learning time, and address the varying interests, experiences and achievements of the learner.
- Critical awareness of concepts of achievement and of ways in which learning can be maximised, from the perspectives of teachers and learners.
- Knowledge of the purposes and uses of assessment within the health sector.
- Understanding of key assessment concepts and processes such as validity, reliability and standard setting.
- An understanding of theories of education and themes of professional values and practice within clinical education.
- Knowledge of key principles and approaches to curriculum design and the implications of developments such as inter-professional working.
- Critical appraisal of curricular approaches such as SPICES, PRISMS, spiral, outcome-based and competency-based models.
