The School of Education has been involved in the study of Education for over 100 years.
At any one year we have between 80-100 international students studying in the School coming from most parts of the world.

The School's research interests are at the heart of its mission and the School consistently scores highly in the Research Assessment Exercise which is held every 5 to 6 years. At the present we have a number of research groups at the School. These are:

The annual Raymond Priestley Lecture will be on 4 November 2009. This years speaker is Frank Coffield, Professor of Education at the Institute of Education, University of London. His lecture is entitled Exam Factories or Learning Communities: What’s Education For? The lecture is open to all, but number will be limited.
The 2009-2010 research seminar series starts on 25th November 2009 with guest speaker Richard Pring, from the University of Oxford. All are welcome. His lecture will be on The Nuffied Review of 14-19 Education and Training: the problems faced and solutions proposed.Speaker: Professor Frank Coffield

UNESCO associated School
The School of Education is an Associated School of UNESCO, and mounts projects and seminars to promote UNESCO ideals of peace, democracy, rights and sustainable development. A UNESCO research scholarship is available.
