The School of Education has been involved in the study of Education for over 100 years.
At any one year we have between 80-100 international students studying in the School coming from most parts of the world.
We have a strong international profile in our teaching, research and consultancy. The CIER page gives details of our international expertise and research projects, the staff involved and our international partners. It also details scholarships for international students.
The School's research interests are at the heart of its mission and the School consistently scores highly in the Research Assessment Exercise which is held every 5 to 6 years. At the present we have a number of research groups at the School. These are:

Professor Nancy Madden (University of York)
Nancy Madden is President and co-founder of the American Success for All Foundation which develops, researches, and disseminates educational programs for high poverty schools. She is also a professor in the Center for Research and Reform in Education at John Hopkins University. Since 2007 she has been a Professor in the Institute for Effective Education at the University of York.

“The Birmingham Conference” is hosted by the West Midlands Workforce Deanery and the Centre for Research in Medical and Dental Education, University of Birmingham, the 2008 event will be held at the Lakeside Centre at Aston University in Birmingham. It is kindly sponsored in full by the West Midlands Strategic Health Authority.
UNESCO associated School
The School of Education is an Associated School of UNESCO, and mounts projects and seminars to promote UNESCO ideals of peace, democracy, rights and sustainable development. A UNESCO research scholarship is available.
